Question: Does the camera offer live feed through the USB port?

Answer: No, once the camera is plugged into a USB port on a computer, it will go into the USB connection mode.

Question: What kind of SD card do I need?

Answer: You will need to get a class-4 or higher SD card from a reputable brand and source in order to use the camera effectively. A class-10 SD card is recommended when using Time-Lapse mode or photo every 0.5 seconds.

Question: What SD card format should I use?

Answer: The cards need to be formatted in FAT32 format.

Question: Can I monitor the audio with headphones?

Answer: No, at this time this is not possible to monitor audio by plugging headphones into your HD HERO2 camera.

Question: Can I still view videos recorded on my original HD HERO through the HD HERO2?

Answer: Yes, the HD HERO2 will still recognize and playback these video files.

Question: Can I edit videos from the original HD HERO into the same timeline as video from the HD HERO2?

Answer: Yes, the video formats are the same so the files can be easily edited together.

Question: Does the HD HERO2 have a built-in viewfinder or preview screen?

Answer: The HD HERO2 does not include a built-in viewfinder. However, you can purchase the LCD BacPacTM which attaches to the back of the HD HERO2 and enables photo and video preview and playback.

Question: Does HD HERO2 have a zoom function?

Answer: The HD HERO2 does not have a zoom function. However, by changing the field of view in 1080p (going from 170º Wide to 127º Medium or 90º Narrow) you shorten the focal distance, effectively “zooming in” the camera. This is also the case when choosing the 8MP photo mode or the Medium FOV 5MP photo mode. Think of this as having 3 fixed lenses in one (Wide, Medium, Narrow). This is not similar to a digital zoom, which reduces image quality. There is no loss in image quality when switching between Wide, Medium and Narrow field of views.

Question: Can I use HD HERO2 for diving?

Answer: Yes, the camera housing is rated waterproof down to 197’ ft (60m), and our head strap mount is a great way to wear the camera on your forehead, just above your diving mask. Please note that due to the curved lens of the HD HERO2 (and the original HD HERO) waterproof housing you will notice a slight loss of sharpness with underwater images. This is because the HD HERO2’s waterhousing glass lens is optimized for maximum field of view and sharpness above water while maintaining the smallest possible size. Stay tuned for new underwater-specific products that will provide maximum sharpness underwater.

Question: Can I use the HD HERO2 with the 3D HERO® System?

Answer:

• We will be releasing 3D HERO® System compatibility for the HD HERO2 in the near future through a firmware update.

Question: Can I combine an HD HERO2 and the original HD HERO for 3D HERO® System recording?

Answer: No, you can only combine two of the HD HERO2 units (pending) or two of the original HD HERO units together to use with the 3D HERO® System.

Question: Why would I want to shoot 5MP photos instead of 11MP photos with the HD HERO2?

Answer: Changing the photo settings in the setting menu from 11MP to 8MP or 5MP can free up memory on your SD card which will allow you to capture a larger quantity of photos.

    This little gem needs some explaining. Ever seen a GoPro video where the tyres are going backwards or where you see RC/helicopter blades as if they are standing still?  Wouldn't it be nice to blur them?  All you have to do is cut out some of the light to the lens and you'll get nice realistic blurred propellers, tyres, roads, etc. to give you a natural feel.  This filter simply goes between the HD Hero camera lens and the underwater housing lens.  But wait, there's more.  It's also a polarizing filter making the sky deeper blue, removing water reflections and giving more vibrant colors all around.
